Klon KTR
- Collection: Boutique Range
- Type: Overdrive
- The revised production version of the legendary Klon Centaur
- Three controls: Gain, Treble, and Output (GTO)
- Clean boost mode at minimum Gain — enormous headroom, zero distortion
- Toggle switch for buffered or true-bypass output when effect is off
PL Notes:
Is this thing really that good? Surely it's overhyped? Only one way to find out and that's not spending a few minute playing it on a guitar and amp that are not your own. YOU NEED TO BORROW THIS! When I got this for the library and played it I immediately thought "oh man, this is going on my board".
Â
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE REVISED KLON OVERDRIVE
Controls: Left-to-right, the controls are Gain, Treble and Output. The Gain setting determines how much or how little distortion the unit is generating on its own Treble and Output are self-explanatory. For aesthetic reasons it made no sense to include the control designations as part of the screen printing on the unit,* but here is a useful mnemonic device: GTO.
Treble setting: Don't reflexively leave your Treble setting at noon, us a lot of players seem to do with the tone controls on their pedals. The Treble control is capable of providing subtle gradations in high-frequency response, and is usable and natural sounding throughout its entire range; trust your ears, and use the control.
Output setting: To use the unit as a true overdive - hitting whatever follows it in your signal path harder than your straight through signal would - your Output setting will most certainly need to be above above 10:00. Different amps and pedals have different input stage headroom characteristics, so take some time to experiment with the Output to find whatever setting gives you the best results with your particular rig; often settings in the 11:00 - 1:00 range work well.

OCD V1.7
- Collection: Classic Range
- Type: Overdrive
- Open-sounding overdrive/distortion with significant dynamic range
- Drive knob delivers approximately 20dB of gain
- HP/LP toggle: HP for British mid-boost character, LP for transparent clean boost
- Tone knob affects high frequencies only, neutral at 12 o'clock
- Adds complex overtones without altering the fundamental guitar and amp tone
The Fulltone OCD is characterized as an open-sounding overdrive/distortion with significant dynamic range, offering more distortion variation based on playing intensity compared to traditional, more compressed, diode-clipped pedals. It aims to add complex overtones without altering the fundamental tone of the guitar and amplifier.
Drive Knob: Features approximately 20dB of gain, with high-peak mode providing more, often necessitating a lower volume setting (around 9 o'clock) for unity gain.
HP/LP Switch:
HP (High Peak): Increases gain and volume with a slight midrange boost (1-2 kHz) for a British amp-style character.
LP (Low Peak): Provides high accuracy to the original instrument and amp signal with minimal coloration, suitable for clean boosting or Tweed/Blackface tones.
Tone Knob: Affects only high frequencies, with 12 o'clock acting as a neutral point.
Pedal Library notes:
I borrowed one of these from a mate as it was a pedal I was wanted to try (but a pedal library didn't exist!). I was blown way by it. Such a lovely overdrive and I could truely hear my original tone clearly - yes im calling it transparent. So of course I had to buy one.Â
If you were setting up a board and wanted just one pedal to cover your overdrive tones this could easily be it. Paired with a Friedman Pedal for high gain and your set. Oh, and something for solo boosts and of course something for a bit of delay and....

King Of Tone
- Collection: Boutique Range
- Type: Overdrive
- Dual overdrive circuit in one box — two independent channels with shared controls
- Boost, Overdrive & Distortion (high gain version)Â
- Preserves the tone of your guitar and amp while adding warm, natural overdrive
- Works beautifully with any guitar type (single coils, humbuckers, P90s) and any amp
- Not a high-gain pedal — excels at tightening dirty amps and adding touch-sensitive drive
- Entirely handmade by Analog Man with near-unobtainable parts
PL Notes:
I have been using one of these since 2014 and I think Ive used it with every band I've played with which covers quite a few styles. One of things I love about the KOT is that it seems to work really well with any guitar or amp. Clean amp, dirty amp, single coils, humbuckers and P90's all sound great. It sits really well in a band setting but it doesn't change your tone as much as other pedals (eg Tubescreamer). It doesn't do high-gain but if your amp is already dirty it does a great job of tightening up the sound and adding extra gain.
Analog Man, in collaboration with Jim Weider, have come out with the pedal we have been looking for for many years - the King Of Tone (KoT). There are many overdrive pedals on the market, but none of them have been quite right, preserving the tone of the guitar and adding the right amount of overdrive without compromise. There are some good clean boosts available, but they just don't have enough drive to really give your amp the distortion you often want. There are some newer OD pedals that have a great frequency response, but to me they sound too DRY, a bit sterile and cardboardy. There are also some nice sounding pedals available but their sound is too "saturated", losing the touch and feel of your guitar. That is where the King Of Tone pedal comes in - it has enough warm overdrive but still preserves the tones of your quality guitars and amps. If you are looking for a big change in your sound, or a lot of distortion, this is probably not the pedal for you.

Sun Face BC183 (Silicone transistor)
- Collection: Pro Range
- Type: Fuzz
- BC183 silicon transistor — medium-high gain with a smooth, almost germanium-like character
- Cleans up remarkably well with guitar volume pot
- External Sun Dial bias control for tonal shaping from gated/spitting to overdrive-like
- By Analogman — one of the most respected boutique fuzz builders in the world
PL Notes
I love fuzz but they can be difficult to use - kind of like learning another instrument. I usually set the volume at unity or above, turn the fuzz up until it's too much then back it off just a smidge (Philip Sayce advice). The bias knob in the middle can yield some interesting and fun tones from gated spitting sounds (anti-clockwise) to more overdrive like (counter clockwise). There are great sounds to be had turning the volume pot down on your guitar too - in fact so many awesome clean tone to be had using a fuzz with the guitar volume down. Don't forget, a lot of the classic sounds were just cranked amps with a fuzz or treble booster then a lot of tonal adjustment coming from the guitar controls. *Final note - they are noisy, embrace it.
BC183 : Medium high gain. These are really smooth, almost like a germanium sound and people often are surprised at how well they clean up. The Sun Dial is an external bias control.

- Channels can be used independently or combined for a vast sonic palette
- More drive and volume on tap than either original pedal
PL Notes:
If you could only take one drive pedal to a gig I think this one would have you well covered with the exception of a really high-gain tone. Jesse Davey (Kingtone) has added more drive and volume than you would get from either of the pedals this was based on. With the additional toggle switches you can really tune it into your rig. Great pedal.

Morning Glory
- Collection: Classic Range
- Type: Overdrive
- Highly transparent overdrive — adds grit without colouring your core tone
- Gain sweeps from completely clean to rock and roll
- Side-mounted bright-cut switch to tame high end on brighter rigs
- LED changes colour to indicate boost circuit status
OVERDRIVE
The Morning Glory is undoubtedly our most well-known overdrive pedal, winning more awards and receiving more accolades than any of our other designs. We worked hard to make it one of the most transparent overdrives out there. When you want to add some mid- to low-level grit to your crystal-clean tone, use the Morning Glory. When you want to boost a crunchy tone into thicker sustain, use the Morning Glory. When you need to add tube-like touch response to a less-than-ideal amp, use the Morning Glory. When you need to switch between two gain levels on the fly...Yeah, you get the idea.
TRULY TRANSPARENT TONE
The best way to explain the Morning Glory is that it delivers all the tonal and responsive nuance that your amp is missing, and nothing that your tone already has. It's difficult describing a pedal that can be set to have little effect on your tone, so just plug into our Morning Glory overdrive for yourself, and then you'll understand.
- Gain control sweeps from completely clean to rock'n'roll
- Tame high end on brighter rigs with the side-mounted bright-cut switch
- Increased headroom and output for use as a full-frequency boost
ON-THE-FLY VERSATILITY
An update for the Morning Glory V4 is moving the original's front-mounted bright-cut switch to the side of the pedal and replacing it with a powerful boost circuit. And by pairing your Morning Glory V4 with the JHS Red Remote (sold separately), you're able to access the boost mid-song. It's like having two Morning Glorys in one pedalboard-friendly package.
- Switch to a more powerful sound with enhanced low end and grit
- Plug in your JHS Red Remote to switch between the two voices with a tap of your toe
- Handy LED changes from blue to red, indicating the status of the boost circuit

Gentle, lagging vibrato, 1980s style choruses, and even some doubling effects are possible…and then, turn up & go wild again.
SOMERSAULT™ applies a similar framework as our popular KILOBYTE™ and MÉTÉORE™ pedals. While the digital chip sets the delayed wet signal, the initial gain stage, dry signal, LFO, control set and output mixing stage are entirely analog. Megalodon Super Solo
- Collection: Classics Range
- Type: Boost
- Handmade in Melbourne, Australia — this unit is early 2000s production
- Class A clean boost and preamp — adds harmonic richness without distortion
- Dual controls: Gain (bite/harmonic drive) + Volume (output level)
- Built with 1970s New Old Stock (NOS) Class A drivers
- Best with a carbon 9V battery for optimal tone
- Rated 10/10 by US Guitar Player magazine
- Used by professional players across Australia and internationally
The Ulbrick Megalodon Super Solo is one of Australia's most celebrated boutique pedals — and one of the most misunderstood. This isn't a distortion pedal. It's a Class A sonic enhancer that adds harmonic richness, clarity, and sparkle to your signal without ever getting dirty.
Designed by Dave Ulbrick — one of the original figures in Australian boutique pedal building, with roots going back to 1974 — the Megalodon uses 1970s New Old Stock (NOS) Class A drivers to deliver a pre-stage warmth that makes your guitar feel more alive. Dial in the gain knob to taste, push the volume, and watch your solos cut through a mix like they never have before.
This particular unit was handmade in Melbourne in the early 2000s, making it a genuine piece of Australian guitar history. Used by professional players across Australia and internationally, and awarded a perfect 10/10 by US Guitar Player magazine — the Megalodon is the kind of pedal that quietly becomes the most important thing on your board.
Pro tip: Run it with a carbon 9V battery rather than alkaline for the full Class A experience.

Sick As
- Collection: Classic Range
- Type: Overdrive
- Klon Centaur-inspired circuit with major modern improvements
- Gain control blends clean and driven signal simultaneously for musical results
- Powerful two-band active EQ with up to 15dB of boost or cut
- Toggle switch controls headroom and drive character
- Internally boosted to 18V for maximum clarity and headroom
- Soft touch true-bypass switching
PL Notes:
I first got one of these after seeing it on a That Pedal Show episode in 2018 where they were comparing Klon style pedals against Micks real Klon Centaur. I thought the Sick As sounded identical. But so did the Manticore (by ProAnalog Devices). So, of course I had to buy both to try them properly even if I was only going to keep one ;) Its this sort of behaviour that made me think we need a Pedal Library. The Sick As pedal can certainly mimic a Klon but its capable of much more, so much so that you could easily have two of them on your board doing completely different things. Ops, did I just suggest buying two of the same pedal?! Hahahaha
The Sick As Overdrive is a diversion from the well-worn path, taking its basic structure from the Klon Centaur® but with some major improvements for the modern player. The gain control serves a dual purpose— as the gain is increased, the ratio of gain-to-clean tone increases as well. This ensures that when the gain is rolled off, the tone never becomes muddy and unpleasant. You can control the amount of headroom and the character of the drive with the toggle switch. Choose from a more compressed, mid-range focused tone or an open, transparent, rhythm tone. The tone circuit is a powerful, two-band active EQ circuit capable of boosting or cutting the bass and treble frequencies up to 15dB for maximum versatility. The voltage is also boosted internally to 18V for increased clarity and headroom.
- Clean Boost, Overdrive or a blend of the two.
- Dynamic and natural, responsive to your pick attack or volume knob.
- Internally boosted to 18 volts for maximum headroom and clarity.
- Toggle switch controls the amount of headroom and character of the drive.
- Powerful active tonestack, capable of 15dB of boost or cut
- Soft touch true-bypass switching

Once inside, a reflection of light from an unknown source catches your eye, and you notice a bizarre sheen on the walls of the cave. You timidly inch closer to the walls of the cave. Placing your hand gently on the cavern wall, you feel the rock move. The cave is alive! Alarmed, you emit a loud gasp, which reverberates throughout the subterranean landscape. Upon further listening, it appears as though the reverberations of your voice are in fact a swarm of short digital delays which may be used to create wild and cavernous reverbs, or scattered, short, rhythmic delays with bizarre characteristics

SLO Multi-Texture Reverb
- Collection: Pro Range
- Type: Reverb
- Three algorithms: Dark (lower octave), Rise (ambient auto-swell), Dream (latching pad)
- Three wave shapes: Sine, Warp, and Sink for modulation variety
- Momentary bypass and sustain switches for expressive real-time control
- Trails mode for natural reverb decay when pedal is switched off
PL Notes:
The SLO was suggested by so many people and I can see why. So much fun creating vast audio landscapes. I lost time playing with this pedal.
The Slö Multi Texture Reverb allows players to create lush, modulated, sleepy and ambient soundscapes. Stocked with three different algorithms specifically designed to invoke textures for bringing dreams from your subconscious to reality.
The toggle switch allows three different reverb modes, Dark (Lower Octave), Rise (Ambient Swell) and Dream (Latching Pad), while secondary functions on the switch change between different wave shapes for the modulation on the reverb trail.
Combine deep modulation with long washy trails and experience, the Slö.
ALGORITHMIS:
DARK – Add a lower octave to your reverb trail. Here you'll create deep and wide atmospheric sounds and channel nightmarish soundscapes. X knob sets the level of a -1 octave signal that feeds the reverb.
RISE – This is an auto-swell reverb for beautiful cinematic swells. Don't rush it. Let it breathe and gently wake up. X knob sets the amount of time it takes the reverb to swell in after a note is played. Set lower for shorter rise times and higher for longer rise times.
DREAM – Here is a lush reverb with a latching pad function. Press the sustain switch to latch signal. Experiment with the X knob to add vibrato over the pad. Press sustain again and pad will decrescendo according to where decay knob is set. X knob sets the depth of vibrato applied to the reverb trail.

- JFET preamp based on the Echoplex EP-3 tape echo unit
- Adds subtle boost with a unique phase response that enriches and focuses tone
- Works beautifully as an "always on" pedal or transparent clean boost
- Australian-made with CE-compliant low-noise design
- In production since 2008, trusted by pro players worldwide
PL Notes:
I see so many pro-boards with the Xotic Effects EP Booster (or similar) and for good reason - they sound great. Well this is the brilliant Aussie made take on the pre-amp section of an Echoplex. This pedal just adds a little magic dust to your tone. Great as a boost (not massive) or as an "always on" pedal.
The EP-PRE is a JFET preamplifier that is based on the preamp section of the Echoplex® EP-3® tape echo unit. It will deliver a few db of boost, but I don't consider it as a boost.
Words such as Enhance, Fatten and Enrich all cover the effect that the EP-PRE has on your tone, but I have yet to find a word that really captures the magic of this amazing little circuit. A friend who has one of the prototypes calls it a "Tone Polisher".
My own feeling is that it creates a "focus" in my tone and helps me to play with more confidence.

- "Amp in a box" pedal based on Dave Friedman's acclaimed Small Box tube amplifier
- Covers vintage Plexi goodness through to high-gain modern rock tones
- Side-mounted gain switch simulates the Plexi-Channel of the Small Box amp
- Touch-responsive with harmonically rich overdrive
PL Notes:
If you're looking for that "amp in a box" pedal this is it. In fact, all of the Friedman pedals I have tried (BE-OD1, Dirty Shirley and Small Box) they can all turn a clean amp into a high gain monster. With plenty of controls to shape the tone these are great for classic rock to high gain sounds.
Dave Friedman's Small Box all-tube amplifier is well known for being one of the most flexible and touch-responsive amplifiers on the market today. You can now get the same tonal versatility, sensitivity and harmonically rich overdrive as this legendary amp with Friedman's new Small Box overdrive pedal. The Small Box pedal packs the same intuitive control set as the amplifier, allowing you to dial in your perfect shade of rock, from vintage Plexi goodness to high gain madness. Whether you want a high-output cleaner tone for pushing your amp hard, or a thick gritty drive that will sit well in any classic to modern rock band, a sweep of the gain control easily gets you there. Super Hard On (your amp) - Hand Painted
- Collection: Pro Range
- Type: Boost
- Extremely high input impedance (5 million ohms) — lets pickups "open up" naturally
- Delivers up to 8.5V peak-to-peak — the loudest 9V battery-powered boost available
- MOSFET-based circuit (no bipolar, FET, or op-amp devices)
- Reacts beautifully to guitar volume pot for expressive clean-to-drive control
- Hand painted — each unit is unique
PL Notes:
I love this pedal as a great clean boost (docent add too much tonal change). If your amp is clean then its gets heaps louder. If your amp is a little dirty it adds some really nice drive and boost and reacts really well being adjusted with your volume pot. Some great blues tones to be had for sure.
The super hard-on has an input impedance of 5 million ohms and delivers up to 8.5 volts peak-to-peak, making it the loudest box available with a 9V battery. It uses no bipolar, fet, or op-amp devices, but rather a mosfet switch. Try listening to one turned down low with a strat. When it is on, you can clearly hear the pickup "open up" as the load is taken off by the very high input impedance.

PL Notes:
So much fun! I remember as a kid listening to the solo in Purple Haze and wondering how Jimi Hendrix got those sounds. I had no idea that a fuzz pedal that creates an octave above your original note existed. Try it on the neck pickup and definitely play with the guitars volume pot. Also really cool stacked with another drive pedal before or after (they sound totally different). ***Be warned they sound like your signal is broken and plenty of people who try them for the first time think something is wrong - but its a good cool kinda wrong ;)
The Chicago Iron Octavian has the same great circuit as the Tycobrahe Octavia, but has an indicator LED mod requested by players. Sound is the same!
The Chicago Iron Octavia was reconstructed with the help of the original Tycobrahe team, using units handpicked by late César Diaz. The Tycobrahe Octavia was used by players like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Tony Iommi. Current users include Tony Iommi, Slash and Velvet Revolver among many others.
- 100% True Bypass
- Authentic blue steel housing
- Super-bright blue UV LED
- Uses standard boss-type 9V DC supply (optional)

Also note: this pedal is made with positive ground, just like the original. This means you can't use it together with other pedals sharing the same power supply - the exception where each output is isolated. Just use a battery :)
